Summoned to create a tea house for installation at Hodges Taylor Gallery, and working with visiting artist Theaster Gates, what was created was a tea house inspired by the idea of wabi sabi, the traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony ritual, and the spirit of tea consumption in the traditional American South: porch culture, lazy days, rocking chairs, and sweet iced tea.
Materials: Wood, burlap, steel, glass mason jars, sweet tea [drink], sweet tea [bags].
This project currently resides in the private collection of a Charlotte art collector.
