My name is Richard South and I am trained as an architectural designer. I live in New York City and am a 2014 Master of Science graduate in Advanced Architectural Design at Columbia University GSAPP. I studied architecture at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte where I received both a Bachelor of Art (2009) and a Bachelor of Architecture (2010).
As a designer, I am interested in the current discourse surrounding parametricism: its decisive co-authoring by architects & engineers in a collaborative nature, and its sensible use within built or unbuilt work globally. My research interests include the technological & future-minded work of Cedric Price and the texts of Reyner Banham.
I have had the good fortune to work with the Storefront for Art & Architecture, the Columbia Building Intelligence Project and the Architectural League of New York.
I am big into film photography. Check out some of my work here.
